Wireless Engineer

The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design and implementation of wireless networks within the network and will provide interactive network support to meet growth, service and reliability requirements. The candidate will assist in the network architecture and planning team and provide technical expertise on topologies and interconnectivity to the various distribution and access layer devices on and off campus. The ideal candidate for this position should be an expert in the full range of network technologies, which includes LAN, MAN and WAN networks.

Education and Skill Requirements:

  Minimum of 5 years experience
•  Degree Required:  Bachelors in CS, EE, CIS (or equivalent experience)

 
Required:

•  Cisco Wireless Access Points, Antennas and PC NIC
•  Routers: Cisco 2500, 3600, 400, 7200, 7500 and 7600 series routers.
•  Switches: Cisco Catalyst 2900, 4000, 5500, 6500 series switches.
•  Strong working knowledge of Wireless LAN Networks, TCP/IP routing and
•  Switching (L2) elements: Wireless authentication WEP and emerging strong authentication standards.
•  Remedy or other Trouble Ticket experience: HP Openview, Cisco Works, ping, ssh, telnet, ftp, traceroute, RMON, NetCool.
•  Experience with wireless network implementations, support and troubleshooting in an enterprise wireless network environment.
•  Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills and must be experienced with SOPs, SLAs and metric based reporting.

Desired Other:

•  UNIX Systems (Sun or Linux) Intel based servers, Fluke and Yellowjacket Wireless Protocol Analyzers; Etherpeek and EtherReal protocol analyzer packages in a wireless environment; RADIUS, LDAP, SecurID and AAA services; VLAN's (802.1a, 802.1q, ISL Trunking protocols), Routing protocols RIP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF.
•  Configuring AppleTalk wireless and AppleTalk routing on Cisco routers.
•  Working knowledge of Native and Hybrid mode IOS on Cisco devices.
